A most charming creekside cottage

It only took one image and I knew I had to post this upstate NY house. It is simply adorable!

I love the use of color in this house - it is quiet but still cheerful and just bright enough!

My favorite decorating style - and wow was it hard to narrow it down!

The very awesome Amber over at Maven Mama presented a little challenge for me to pick one image that best represents my personal style for interiors. I'll have you know it took me long enough - as she presented me with the question April 1st! It's so hard though, and for me my personal style sometimes depends on what day it is! But today, I'd have to say that I always come back to what I call mid-century modern vintage.

Here is the picture that inspired my decision:

I still don't feel like this image quite sums it up - and there are things that I would do differently of course. I love the neutrals and wood tones, but I'd have to have some aqua blue in there somewhere. Also some fluffy seating - a shabby chic couch or something....and some more organic forms. I guess I just haven't really found the "just right image" yet, but I love this little glimpse of the room. I also love this style because you can use items you already have - I don't believe in tossing something just cause it doesn't match. Also, items that you use and live with are special - and make a home really yours.

Great furniture repurposing ideas!

There's no better feeling than finding something (or keeping something) old and having a brilliant idea to turn it into something even better! Take care in spending adequate time and research on your project and you'll end up with a piece that will mean so much more than a bought item for a much higher price. Plus, it'll be custom!

Okay, so this isn't really repurposing furniture, but I love this idea. Find a branch you like and turn it into art by hanging a collection of shells (or whatever you like for that matter).

Sarah Jessica's Bright and Lovely Hampton's Home

It was very important to Sarah Jessica and hubby Matthew Broderick for their Hampton's home to be comfortable, and free of fuss. The house was originally featured in Elle Decoration UK - but it's also in Elle Decor's book, So Chic, so I'm not 100% positive... Her friend, Eric Hughes helped her achieve a relaxed abode by mixing antiques with thrift store finds and pieces from IKEA with custom-designed furniture.
