My room! (finally I know) I'm so excited to hear your suggestions!

I hadn't forgotten that I promised to post images of my room after I'd selected a paint color (with the help of you guys), it just took me awhile to feel like it was in a state where I could reveal it. Here's the original post if you need to refresh your memory. So I'm just going to call this phase one, because there are still some improvements I'd like to do but haven't gotten to yet. Anyway, after my friend (thanks Cathie!) had "gently reminded" me twice, I knew had to bite the bullet and show it to you guys. I'm really anxious to hear your ideas.

This is the "front" of the room. I'm standing at the foot of my bed here. I plan to find some really pretty fabric and create a "skirt" to go around the radiator, which I'll attach to the shelf. Any fabric suggestions would be great, because of course I can't decide.

I'm starting a "photo wall" on the wall back there, but it's really important that the images are all meaningful to me, so it will be a work in progress. The image below is where I got the inspiration.

The mirror I bought for $20 at a flea market, and painted the frame white.

I also want to make a cover for my monitor on top of the desk (see inspiration below). My laptop lives in the secretary. The scoop back chair I bought for $5 from a stoop sale.

Adorable gifts from my friend Illana, the packaging is just too pretty for me to open!

I found two long, thin wooden boxes on the curb, which I painted white and installed on either side of my bed. They take up less space than nightstands and help curb clutter since they're small. The small lamps on either side of the bed are from ikea - and kind of hard to make out here.

The sliding doors that were on the closet were fussy, so I installed a brown velvet curtain and it works great.

I took the frame off my full length mirror and plan on stretching some fabric over it to create a "headboard"

Thanks in advance you guys, I'm sure you'll have awesome ideas.

A pretty space just for you!

Sitting down at a dressing table every morning seems like such a luxury. Actually, having space for a dressing table is a luxury! Chalk it up to cramped apartments and rushed mornings I guess. Still, I like to collect inspiration for the day when I'll have the time and the space for a proper vanity. *ha*

I really like the idea of the fold down mirror if you also want to use it as a desk.

I like that the stool and the table aren't matches.

perfect!

Again, perfect, love that it's understated a bit, too.

For those who don't want to be too feminine.

Please help me decide!

Alright folks, it has begun. Here is my new room ready for painting and decorating. I'm very excited, and would really like to hear any thoughts or suggestions you guys have. Back when I did my "what color should I paint my bedroom" post, light blue won by a landslide, so now it comes down to what light blue.

That's the top of my ikea secretary desk I bought used, I love it!

An unfortunately large radiator. I had it in my mind to install a shelf over it and sew a sort of table skirt to hide it, but there's a pipe coming up the back, so I'd have to cut a semi-circle on the edge of the shelf...hmm...

my closet, this is just half of it, it has sliding double doors.

My only window *tear*

My room is about 8 ft. wide..which for Brooklyn is what you get used too.

Opposite end of the room, where I plan to put my bed. The room is about 14ft. long, which is pretty good.

There's this odd opaque window and two purposeless vents. On the other side is just an office/utility room. I plan on removing the vents and spackling the holes. As far as the window, it's good because it allows more light in the room, but it's also weird. Should I hang my full length mirror over it or leave it as is?

Another view of the end.

So here are three blues to get us started- obviously you can suggest something totally different. I think I'm rooting for C, I like it because it's romantic and a very cool color. I am open for persuasion however!

A. a "blue" blue

B. a "green" blue

C. a "lavender" blue

I'm so excited to hear your thoughts and feedback!

A Perfect Palette

I love this palette. Blue and Brown are a favorite of mine, and the folks over and domino mag have found a happy little trio!

The taupe is "lambswool" from Pratt and Lambert.

The light blue is "skylit" from Pratt and Lambert.

As an accent they've selected any turquoise blues to reflect the light blue and add some pop.

Bedrooms that make waking up not so bad

I am quite sleepy today. I woke up around 4:30 to catch a train back to NYC and went straight to work. I cannot wait to go home and collapse on my bed. There is nothing like walking into one's bedroom after being away. I know I'm teasing myself, but the thought of my bedroom started me on a search for some imagery to hold me over...

I tried to find a variety, which bedroom would you most want to come home to?

Stylish, affordable finds from LL Bean Home

LL Bean is well known for quality and affordability, but they aren't quite my style. I was surprised however, to look in my mom's most recent catalog from LL Bean home. They have many stylish pieces, similar to what you might find in Restoration Hardware or Crate and Barrel, but at much friendlier prices!

Painted cottage bookcase, $179.00, 8 pretty colors

Painted Cottage Collection, work desk $229.oo

Arts and Crafts Bedding, from $79

Sand Dollar Bedding , from $69

Lakeside End Table, $99

1949 Big Ben alarm clock, $29.50

Pharmacy Table Lamp $159.00

Mission Fireside Bench , $169

They have this in a darker finish which I actually prefer.

Upholstered Ultralight chair, $399

This might be nice in the corner of the bedroom...I'd want it in white though. Maybe they'll ad more colors soon.
