Yay! A book giveaway!

It's been too long since I've hosted a book giveaway?  So I wanted to make this one super good.  Just by commenting on this post - you'll be put in the drawing to win the book Downtown Chic by Robert and Cortney Novogratz of Sixx Design

I've been flipping through this book on and off all day - they give some really good advice for making your home yours, and flea market shopping tips!

This is just a little nibble of the content:

How to Flea by Robert and Cortney Novogratz

• The great stuff sells before 6 AM; get there early, before the dealers snatch up the best things
• Get a large cup of coffee - it's too early to be up on a weekend
• Negotiate. You can always walk away and go back later
• Be sure to bring the measurements of the spaces you are furnishing and a tape measure when shopping.

Don’t forget to comment on this post (scroll to the bottom of this post and right above "Labels" you will see a number followed by the word "comments." Click on the word "Comments." Or, you will see a link, "Post a Comment," which you click on to comment)

If you receive posts in your email feel free to respond to the email noting that you'd like to be entered in the drawing.

Contest closes Thursday the 16th at 5pm. Good luck!

Interior designer couple and their lovely urban homes

According to the New York Times, "Robert and Cortney Novogratz, who have seven children, have renovated 11 properties and lived in five of them, creating child-friendly spaces with contemporary art world touches." Looking through their portfolio, one can't deny they are talented - and how they manage to live in NYC with 7 children blows my mind (affording myself is hard enough). They also have a book deal with Rizzoli, and the entire family has signed a modeling contract with Ford. The book, Downtown Chic, will serve as a "decorating-and-renovating memoir in pictures" writes New York Times.

I was so happy to run across Grow House Grow's line of children's book inspired wallpaper last night called, "Nom de Plume."

DailyCandy reports: "Later this year will come the parlor line, a dark and elegant set inspired by figures like Aleister Crowley and Captain Smith (of Titanic fame). Hand-cast porcelain switch plates are also in the works.

A portion of proceeds goes to Libros Para Pueblos, a nonprofit that builds children’s libraries in Oaxaca — which is a conversation starter in itself."

I'll be checking back because what they have in the works sounds pretty snazzy.

Art, bags, and stationary from Print*Pattern*Paper* - and a discount for you!

You are going to fall in love with the work of Rebecca Peragine, founder of Print*Pattern*Paper. Her sweet and child-focused handmade textiles, art, and stationary are just what the world needs a little more of - especially in these times. Also wonderful- Rebecca's artwork is used as a business tool for non-profits. She creates images and products and gives them to women's co-ops to create, promote and sell their textiles. She even holds art shows in Mexico, where the organizations are located, sells to the tourist population, and gives back proceeds as seed funds for the co-op development. Here is some of her work -

I could so see this piece, "Citrus Zinna," in my office

Perfect for a nursery! So pretty!

Also a simple and beautiful eco-friendly gift wrapping idea! The bags come with gift tags and brown ribbons, and they are gifts in themselves!

You can also purchase her wonderful market and library totes, made from eco-friendly cotton.
