Lucketts - Take Two

Sorry about the video getting chopped off yesterday.  I am brand spankin' new at this video thing, but I'm learning.  Please give me feedback if something is not working properly.

So, this video picks up right where yesterday's clip cut off and runs through the end of day one.

I have so much stuff to share, that I am overwhelmed!  Hang in there with me as I sort through my comments, pictures, projects, e-mails, and events.  Deep breath and one step at a time.

A charming country home with style north of Copenhagen

One place we didn't visit on my travels, but is still very much on my travel wish list, is Copenhagen. I'm sure the architecture and shops would be right up my alley. Has anyone been to Copenhagen? What did you think?

The natural light in this home is great - also the architectural details like the radiator cover and top window pane.

I'm a sucker for detail shots :)

The look of all those books in the bedroom is really nice - but I'd be afraid I'd stay up too late each night reading.

This little spot in the yard is wonderfully wabi sabi no?

What do you think of this home? Close to your style?

I'm ready for my closeup!

You may think, "Miss Mustard Seed hasn't posted since Lucketts.  She must be getting some rest."  And you would think you were right, but you're not.

I've been cleaning my house, sewing cushion covers for a special project, and pulling my hair out trying to get some of the Lucketts video to work for you.  My camera doesn't like Vista, my laptop needs a four prong firewire cable and Staples only has a nine, I don't have codecs on my computer and couldn't find the right ones to download.  I'm ready to pull my hair out.  It's almost 11:00 pm, but we hung in there and got it to work.

So, at long last, here is the first installment of my Lucketts video.  It's about 12 minutes, so hang in there with me.  Get a beverage and a snack and enjoy the show!

I'm back from Europe - with a book giveaway!!

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be able to post on a regular basis again! The trip was absolutely amazing and I promise to share pictures of my boyfriend and my 9 week journey - but first I have to do some photo organizing. I thought I'd welcome everyone back with a book giveaway, Mark Montano's "Big-Ass Book of Home Decor." You can see samples of the book in my review post from May. To enter the giveaway just leave a comment telling me your favorite place (city, country, etc.) you've ever traveled, and why if you wish. Or you can email me your favorite place. The giveaway will be closed next Tuesday at 12am EST. Good luck!

And now, to warm up a bit - I thought I'd just publish some good old Office Furniture-style eye-candy. It's great to be back!

A Quick Update

Well, girls, Lucketts Day One was a banner day.  I sold so much stuff that I had to shop my house for more merchandise.  Some of it is going to hurt.

See below.  Sniff.
In addition, I'm bringing my large sheet music wreath, hall table, a caned seat bench, a feed sack upholstered bench, the slipcovered chair from my guest room, mirror from my living room, my antique iron crib, and more.

Thanks so much to all of the girls who came out to meet me.  I've been making a Lucketts video and I can't wait to get it up on the blog, so the rest of you can "join me" on the journey.

I'm sunburned, tired, and my brain is mush, so I'm off to bed.

Moving Into A Booth

First of all...I didn't mean my last post to be a plea for praise, but I want to thank all of you for the kind words, cheerleading, and a huge boost.  You are an incredible bunch and I thank each of you for taking the time to type something to encourage me, someone who most of you have never met.  The blog world is awesome!

After a long day, the booth is full and all snug for the night and we're pooped.
I love the way everything came together under the tent and I can't wait to decorate and play tomorrow.
We took time to shoot some video footage to share on the blog soon, so those of you who can't be there can still see all of the action.
I'm really tired and fried AND I have a 5:00 am wake-up time, so I'm just going to let you enjoy the pictures and I'll share more tomorrow.

Thanks for all of your prayers for sunny skies...it looks like the weather is going to be perfect.
God is so good.

Fear and Comfort

Almost everything is tagged and tallied.  The van is packed.  The weather forecast is amazing.  All of the planning and hard work will finally be rewarded...or will it?
Now that the Lucketts Fair is at my door step, I'm feeling a little fearful.  What if people don't buy my stuff?  Are the prices too high?  Too low?  What if people coming to meet "Miss Mustard Seed" are disappointed when they see me in person?  Will my booth look as good as I picture it in my head?
This is not the first antique fair I've done, but it is a little different from the others I've gone to as a vendor.  I'm doing this one by myself.  I've always gone with a partner, so success of the booth wasn't entirely on my shoulders.  Flying solo is pushing me creatively and professionally, but it's also a greater risk.  My booth will be a reflection of me.  Just me.  And if people don't like my booth and the things I've created, found, cleaned, tagged, packed, and arranged it will be hard to not take that personally.  I'm really putting myself out there and the end result is unknown.

I'm sure every antique dealer, shop owner, and artist feels these same emotions at some time or another.  I'm sure everyone who takes a personal risk feels these same things, for that matter.
However, I may be on my own, but I won't be alone.  My greatest cheerleader, supporter and investor flew in late last night to help me pack, set up, and work my booth.  Her name tag will read, "Miss Mustard Seed's Mom."  I also have the best support team at home.  My husband has fixed all sorts of hopeless pieces of furniture for me to paint.  He will be caring for our boys while I work, so I don't have to give them a second thought.  My dad tinkered and fixed my lamps, a wagon, a bench, and other things that had me stumped.  There are many amazing people behind me, Marian, to make me all that "Miss Mustard Seed" is.
So, I'm going to take the step...the leap.  I'm not alone and I won't be afraid.

PS - For those who usually stop by for Furniture Feature Friday, we won't be having it this week.  I'm a little too busy!

Oyster Sign

I don't think I've ever had an oyster, but the thought of one in my mouth just doesn't do it for me.  I may not like oysters, but that didn't stop me from thinking "fresh oysters" would look cool on a sign.
I loved this old piece of barn wood with the original red paint on it.  It's probably over 100 years old and was a perfect "canvas" for one of my hand painted "antique" signs.  I know I've promised a tutorial on my process for making my signs and I will hold to that.  I am too busy with Lucketts and some other very exciting projects I have in the works.
Anyway, this sign is also coming with me to Lucketts and I hope it finds a good buyer who will give it a good home.
I also made another lamp shade out of upholstery webbing.  Here's a sneak peak and I'll share a better look soon.
Tomorrow is about the finishing touches on a few projects, getting a haircut, and tagging items that I'm pulling from the shop to take to the fair.  I also have a special visitor flying in late tonight to help me with Lucketts...more on that tomorrow.
